Challenge

This outgoing family in Sun Prairie, WI loves to entertain. Yet, the current layout of their kitchen and dining room was small and restrictive. It lacked sufficient space to accommodate a large dining room table, which they needed to feed and entertain large groups of people. The size of the kitchen made it not only challenging to prepare food for large groups, it also lacked sufficient storage for entertainment supplies.

Solution

Sweeney was brought in to redesign and restructure the layout, as well as improve the overall functionality of the home’s main footprint. By removing the wall between the dining room and kitchen, we were able to open up the space—fit for entertaining—and build ample storage, conveniently accessed from both the kitchen and dining room. We also converted the relatively unused formal living room into the new dining room, providing adequate space to accommodate the large table this couple needed to comfortably seat 12.

Features of this remodel include spacious Starmark Bedford Hickory Cabinetry in Oregano stain, durable Viatera Aria countertops, a Zephr Twister Tornado hood venting system and Kohler fixtures.
