The challenge for Sweeney Design Remodel was to take this tight, outdated kitchen and start from scratch to create a luxurious transitional kitchen. The project required the construction of a large central island, new custom cabinetry, and commercial-grade appliances.
The first step was to replace the client’s two-tier, non-functional island with a large central island that had ample room for everyday meal prep, family activities, and additional seating. Unique to this space was a poorly designed, unsightly ‘oven cabinet’ that took up a lot of space. This was also removed.
The new oversized island was designed to comfortably seat four. It was finished with white Dura Supreme Cabinetry topped with a marble countertop. One end of the island featured open shelving perfect for storing cookbooks. The opposite end included additional workspace and a butcher block countertop ideal for baking. It was also designed with a useful second Blanco stainless steel sink and additional storage space.
The perimeter cabinets were finished in the same white Dura Supreme cabinets and quartz countertops. The island stovetop was replaced with a Wolf 36″ dual fuel range and Broan 36″ Wall stainless steel vent hood. The backsplash was finished in a white Jeffery Court Atlas subway tile. A set of open wood shelving was designed to coordinate with the butcher block counter offering an ideal place to display accent dishes, pottery, and kitchen accessories.
Other highlights of this kitchen remodel include a Subzero 42″ french door refrigerator, glass bubble pendant lighting, 4” crown molding, and new light stained hardwood flooring.
This family couldn’t be more thrilled with their brand new kitchen. Now touted as their favorite room in the house, they consistently gather around their stunning central island eating, cooking, and just being together as a family.
