New hire demonstrates commitment to the remodeling industry through the empowerment of Dane County youth

Owner Tim Sweeney is particularly proud of his company’s people-first values, which have encouraged him to partner with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Youth Apprenticeship program and provide area high school students with hands-on training and development.
“The future of the skilled trades is being created today,” beams Tim as he discusses the Madison Chamber of Commerce program. “The integrity of the remodeling industry is forged in the hearts of young people eager to enter and excel within our profession. So I’m ecstatic to hire high school students for year-long apprenticeships where they gain essential on-the-job experience while taking related courses while continuing toward graduation.”
Tim’s first recruit, Ben Van Kauwenberg of La Follette High School, agrees. “Woodworking isn’t just my job, it’s my passion,” insists Ben. “I’m so thankful to be given a chance my senior year to hone my skills at Sweeney Design Remodel, where I can learn from the best and also have fun doing it!” Already a gifted woodworker, Ben spends his free time handcrafting guitars in his own side business, and now enjoys bringing Sweeney homeowner visions to life.
