1. A Spa-Inspired Bathroom Remodel in a Madison Historic Home
BEFORE
Before
This stately historic home had timeless architectural charm, but the primary bathroom hadn’t kept up. The layout was awkward, storage was lacking and the finishes felt heavy and outdated. The question of whether to keep or remove the bathtub was a primary question. In addition, the bathroom had to serve both the adults and children.
After
We brightened and modernized the bathroom with marble-look tile, a striking blue double vanity and a new walk-in shower. The adjoining primary closet was reconfigured to maximize storage, blending modern convenience with classic character.

“In older homes, you’re often working with oddly-shaped spaces. Our challenge was to modernize the bathroom without compromising its classic architectural charm. We kept it elegant, light and timeless,” says Linda Sweeney, Vice President and Design Consultant at Sweeney Design Remodel.
2. A Modern Bathroom Remodel with Waterfall Edge Details in Madison, WI
BEFORE
Before
This bathroom felt dated and dark, with a built-in tub crowding the room and offering little sense of flow. The homeowners also wanted to create a “modified” wet room/area.
After
A floating vanity, custom linen tower and a striking waterfall-edge countertop bring sleek modern style into this bathroom. A spacious walk-in shower/wet room, free-standing tub, and upgraded, layered lighting transform the bathroom into a warm, hotel-like retreat.

“This client wanted a modern, hotel-like feel, and the waterfall edge was the perfect sculptural detail to elevate the entire design,” Linda says. “It’s amazing how one strong feature can anchor the space.”
3. A Primary and Main Bathroom Remodel in Madison, WI
BEFORE
Before
Both bathrooms in this home were stuck in past decades, with poor layouts and minimal—almost nonexistent—storage. In the primary bathroom, the shower lacked a sufficient spray and the soaking tub blocked access to the window.
After
We reimagined each bathroom entirely, with custom vanities, brighter lighting and layouts that flow seamlessly. The primary bath now features a luxury shower with built-in niches and modern matte finishes. We removed walls to brighten the shower area with a glass partition, replaced the pedestal sinks with more practical vanities, and repositioned the tub with a free-standing model that allows window access. The main bathroom also received a fresh, functional update.

“When remodeling multiple bathrooms at once, it’s important that each space serves its user while also feeling cohesive with the home’s overall style,” Linda emphasizes. “These two projects turned out beautifully balanced.”
4. A White-on-White Primary En Suite Transformation in Madison, WI
BEFORE
Before
The homeowners wanted to transform their two small bedrooms with a cramped bathroom in between into a spacious primary suite with a large en suite bath.
After
We removed the wall between one of the bedrooms and the bathroom to create a spacious, spa-like retreat, complete with a large walk-in closet and a serene wet room-style bathroom featuring a sunlit freestanding tub and custom vanity. The all-white palette, carried from floor to ceiling, enhances the natural light and makes the space feel expansive and calming.

“Transforming two tight bedrooms into a light-filled luxury en suite was about rethinking the flow entirely,” Linda explains. “The monochromatic white look gives this space that clean, airy feeling the client was craving, while keeping the layout practical and elegant.”

5. Primary Suite, Main Bathroom & Powder Room Perfection in Madison
BEFORE
Before
The homeowner wanted a full primary suite renovation to create a comfortable, refined retreat, along with upgrades to both the main bathroom and powder room.
After
A cohesive, natural palette now flows throughout all three spaces. The primary bathroom includes a custom vanity, walk-in shower with accent tile, and generous storage. The main bathroom features a black-and-white tiled floor and a striking black countertop. And the powder room received an elegant facelift with statement lighting, gold accents and a tray ceiling. All three bathrooms honor the home’s original architectural details.

6. A Modern Primary Bathroom Remodel in Madison
BEFORE
Before
These homeowners were frustrated by a cramped shower and a bulky tub deck that overwhelmed their primary bathroom space, and desired a better layout and updated finishes.
After
We redesigned this bathroom with clean lines, deep contrasts and inviting warmth. A navy quartz countertop anchors the custom double vanity, pairing beautifully with the brushed gold fixtures and soft gray cabinetry. Oversized hexagon tile flooring adds drama and depth, while a freestanding tub beneath a sunlit window creates the perfect spa-like escape.
