OUR TEAM
Ben Lofgren, CLC
Lead Carpenter
A welcome addition to the Sweeney family, Ben has 7 years of carpentry experience with a lifetime of appreciation for the craft. His father was a skilled carpenter and “owner-builder” who built his family’s home and their cabin. Ben’s fondest memories were growing up in his father’s shop nailing scraps of wood together or playing with hand tools that he was allowed to use. Though his father passed away when he was 12 years old, Ben’s love of building was born.
Ben graduated from UWSP in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy. He is putting that valuable education to work as a lead carpenter by skillfully providing guidance and supervision to the project team involved in construction projects. His responsibilities include assigning and explaining tasks, responding to clients’ requests, and regularly inspecting work done by the project team to ensure that it conforms to certain specifications. Ben also has a Wisconsin home inspector’s license.
When Ben isn’t working, you’ll find him outdoors enjoying hiking, paddling, camping, and fishing. If you have a chance, you’ll need to ask him about his experience working as a commercial deckhand in Alaska harvesting Sockeye salmon—his favorite place on earth.
Here in Madison, he enjoys good beer, good music, and spending time with his close friends and family. Speaking of family, Ben is married to his wife, Maggie, and relishes fatherhood. Their one-year-old son, John, will soon be joined by another sibling in August 2021.
“We would just like to say that Ben is a pleasure to work with, and he did a nice job on fixing up around the new garage door, skillfully and carefully. He is a good addition to your team and always welcome.”
